What you can actually assess
Whether the relationship had specific, addressable problems (as opposed to a fundamental incompatibility), and whether both people showed real willingness to change something, are things you can honestly evaluate. Whether they'll act on it, and when, isn't.
Why the uncertainty itself is worth accepting
Building your recovery around a predicted outcome keeps you in a holding pattern, waiting for something outside your control. Recovering regardless of what they eventually decide is the only version of this that doesn't leave your wellbeing in someone else's hands.
Build your progress on something you control.
No Contact 40 Days tracks what's actually yours to track — your own streak and recovery, not a prediction about someone else's decision.

Are there real signs an ex will come back?
Some patterns (genuine reflection, direct communication, consistent effort over time) are more promising than others (sporadic hoovering), but none of them are guarantees.
Is it healthy to wait and see if they come back?
It depends on whether you're also building a full life independent of that outcome — waiting exclusively, with your recovery on hold, generally isn't.
