What the early weeks actually feel like
Disrupted sleep. Difficulty eating or eating too much. Intrusive thoughts that arrive when you're trying to concentrate on something else. A physical heaviness that can be hard to describe to someone who hasn't felt it. Oscillating between genuine okay-moments and waves that catch you off guard.
All of this is normal. None of it means you're broken or doing it wrong or more damaged than other people who've been through this.
What healing actually means
Not forgetting. Not deciding the relationship meant nothing. Not being fine.
Healing means: the thought of them stops arriving with the same physical gut-drop. You have more hours in the day that belong to your own life. You're making decisions about your future without the relationship as the primary frame.
That's a gradual shift, not a moment. It tends to arrive first as occasional hours, then occasional days, before it's the consistent baseline.
The things that actually help it move
Reducing re-exposure (their social media, their music, the places you only went together — at least for the early period). Physical activity in some form. Sleep as a priority. Having somewhere to put the feelings — not just talking to everyone about it, but actual personal writing or reflection. Something to be building toward.
Structured support for the actual process.
No Contact 40 Days gives you daily affirmations, a journal, and a streak — the consistent structure that shows up for you every day.

Does time actually heal a broken heart?
Time alone doesn't — time plus real no contact and some active forward building does. Passive time spent in intermittent contact and constant re-exposure doesn't move the same way.
Will I love someone like this again?
Almost certainly — and usually in a way that carries the wisdom from this one rather than just replicating it.
